Is it really too much to ask to be able to share iCal across two computers that sit 10 feet from each other, WITHOUT having to pay for a .mac account or mobileme or whatever the efff they call it?

I cannot be the only guy with macs who need a good calender system to run their lives? it's like the holy grail!!! What do you all use? PLZHELP KAI THNXS

I'm not sure if it fits all your needs but speaking to the requirement of having separate calendars that can be shared and viewed between multiple accounts, is google calendar. My wife and I use ours to keep our appointments straight.
